Scene 3: The Villain murders the Hero's girlfriend. Her name was Jessica.
Scene 4: The Hero vows revenge. This wrong shall be righted. Justice shall prevail!
Scene 19: The Hero is in the Atmospheric Old Building, getting important information from the Informant. The Villain comes up the stairs, aiming to kill them both. A Security Guard jumps out: "Hey, you can't come up h—" Bang! The Villain shoots him dead, then keeps climbing the stairs.
Scene 26: The Security Guard, whose name is revealed to have been Greg Collins, is mourned by his widow.
Scene 27: Greg Collins' children grow up missing their father terribly.
Scene 29: Greg Collins' widowed mother's heart breaks at the death of her son. Now she is alone in the world.
Scene 31: Down at the bar, Greg Collins' friends hold an impromptu wake for him. He will be sorely missed.
Scene 40: A news montage shows that the Villain in still at large, and that the Hero—wrongfully framed—is also wanted by the police. This ratchets up the tension a notch.
Scene 40-a: The news anchor reminds viewers of the death of Greg Collins, beloved father, husband and son, killed by the Villain in Scene 19.
Scene 68: After the Climactic Car Chase, the Hero tracks down the Villain. As the music rises to a triumphant pitch, he aims his gun at the Villain and says, "This is for Jessica—"
Scene 68-a: "—and Greg Collins—"
Scene 68-b: "—you evil bastard!" Bang! The Hero shoots the Villain dead. All wrongs have been righted. Justice prevails.
(Note: As you may have realized if you've seen the movie, scenes 26, 27, 29, 31, 40-a and 68-b were removed by the studio in post-production. That's just the sort of crap you have to put up with in the motion picture business.)
