et sic per gradus ad ima tenditur

Beatrix Kondo began to worry about her weight. "My stomach is beginning to stick out," she thought. "Maybe I'd better diet."

She cut down on how much she ate, especially carbohydrates and sweets. But her stomach continued to grow.

She stopped drinking beer and other alcohol, thinking it would help. But she still got fatter.

She decided to try giving up gambling and pachinko, just to see. The same with sex. But she got yet fatter.

She donated all her money to charity, and gave everything in her house to anyone who wanted it. But her stomach didn't shrink one jot.

Soon she had given up all food, all drink, all sex, all money, all pleasure, all enjoyment, all things.

But she only got fatter, and fatter, and fatter still.
